I had this prob twice.very easy to check with truck running take your right hand and grab the steering shaft that goes from your fire wall area to the steering box and twist your right hand moving the shaft clockwise-counter clockwise back and forth.watch the gear on the side of your steering box where the big arm attaches.this is the pitman arm there is a big bolt and lock nut there which keeps the pitman arm tight to the steering box.if you notice while moving the steering shaft the gear on box is moving before the pitman arm.thT means your nut is loose usually the bolt is stripped either replace nut and bolt or tighten it and put another lock nut on to keep it tight.Btw while checking this the movement is very slight but it shouldnt move at all.
